Fire Restoration Information for Farmers and Ranchers

Farmers and ranchers who have suffered damage to their lands and infrastructure may be eligible for technical and financial assistance through NRCS.

Immediate action can be taken by farmers and ranchers to reduce the potential of erosion and water damage through reseeding critical areas and/or use of other recommended erosion control practices such as the installation of appropriate diversions and silt fencing. For a complete list and descriptions of these and more practices you can use to protect your property, click here.

Few things are as frustrating as not being able to access your property. After fires, roads frequently erode when culverts and roadside ditches become clogged with debris and water flows freely across the road surface. Additionally, fire suppression equipment may unavoidably and unintentionally damage culverts and ditches and reduce the ability of roads to drain properly. Inspecting roadside ditches and culverts for damage and removing obstructions as soon as possible can reduce the potential for extensive damage requiring costly and time consuming repairs.
