California Association of Resource Conservation Districts (CARCD) Elects Officers

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA, November 20, 2004 - The California Association of Resource Conservation Districts (CARCD) held board elections during their annual conference in San Luis Obispo. The elected officers include: President Patrick Truman; Vice President Stuart Gray; Secretary-Treasurer Robert Beegle; and Representative to the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) Nadine Scott.

Truman has served the last two years as CARCD Vice President and as NACD Board Member. He has served as Chairman, Vice Chairman and member of his local conservation District Board of Directors in Trinity County for the last 20 years. Gray is currently President of the Western Shasta RCD, which he joined in 1997. Beegle has served four terms as Secretary-Treasurer of the CARCD and is President of the El Dorado County RCD. Scott, of Oceanside, CA served as President of the CARCD and as Alternate Board Member to the NACD.

The CARCD helps local Resource Conservation Districts (RCD's) throughout California. The RCD's work with farmers, ranchers and urban areas to improve soil, water and wildlife habitat resources in the Golden State. California's expansive area, geographic diversity and rapidly growing population make natural resources conservation a growing and critical issue for the state. California has 103 RCD's which work in partnership with the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service.

The CARCD conference agenda, held in San Luis Obispo, included meetings on: Land Use, Water Quality, Soil Quality, Fish and Wildlife, Conservation Education, Forestry and Fuels, Watershed Information Systems, Agricultural Waivers, Permit Coordination, and Conservation Easements.
