Watershed-Wide Projects of the Watershed Planning Services Staff

Watershed Planning Services (WPS) works with local service centers, NRCS partners and other private land owners, providing natural resources technical assistance. WPS planning products are primarily inventories and analyses designed to help achieve watershed management objectives.

CalWater - California Interagency Watershed Mapping Committee

CalWater is the spatial dataset of watersheds in California, developed by an Interagency Watershed Mapping Committee. For many years, the NRCS and other State and Federal agencies, have been working with this committee to map the watersheds and hydrologic units in the State of California. This committee is working to update the CalWater dataset, and finalize the California data for the National Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD).

Klamath Basin

The Lava Beds and Klamath RCD requested our assistance in balancing the water needs of agriculture and other natural resources in the Klamath Basin. This is a new request and the scope of work is still being developed. It will be a joint study with the NRCS in Oregon. The California part of the basin includes portions of both Modoc and Siskiyou Counties.
